I Grammy 2026, andati in scena il 1° febbraio 2026 alla Crypto.com Arena di Los Angeles, hanno in larga parte confermato le aspettative emerse al momento delle nomination, ma non senza una vittoria dal forte valore simbolico.
Il nome più ricorrente tra le candidature era quello di Kendrick Lamar, forte di sette nomination grazie a GNX e al singolo luther con SZA. Lamar non ha monopolizzato le categorie generaliste, ma ha comunque trasformato le candidature in un cospiquo bottino: Best Rap Album per GNX, Record of the Year e Best Melodic Rap Performance per luther, oltre ai premi rap per TV Off e Chains & Whips.
A spuntarla nella categoria regina è stato però Bad Bunny, già dato tra i favoriti con DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS: l’album ha vinto l’Album of the Year, trasformando la nomination in un risultato storico, primo successo assoluto per un artista latino nella categoria. A completare il quadro, anche i premi per Best Música Urbana Album e Best Music Performance.
Tra gli album candidati all’Album of the Year restano dunque fuori dal podio Sabrina Carpenter con Man’s Best Friend, Tyler, the Creator con CHROMAKOPIA e Lady Gaga con Mayhem. Quest’ultima si è comunque rifatta vincendo Best Pop Vocal Album e due premi legati a Abracadabra.
Il trionfo dei Cure (ma anche dei Turnstile)
Se le categorie principali hanno premiato i nomi più attesi, è nell’area alternative e rock le cose si sono fatte interessanti. I Cure, tornati in nomination dopo 24 anni con Songs of a Lost World, hanno trasformato l’attesa in una consacrazione: Best Alternative Music Album e Best Alternative Music Performance per Alone, primi Grammy in oltre quarant’anni di carriera.
Ancora più netto il risultato dei Turnstile, che arrivavano all’edizione 2026 con cinque nomination distribuite tra rock, alternative e metal. La band ha vinto Best Rock Album con NEVER ENOUGH e Best Metal Performance con BIRDS, confermando la portata trasversale di una candidatura che già sulla carta appariva senza precedenti.
Resta invece a secco Hayley Williams, alla sua prima esperienza solista ai Grammy con quattro nomination, così come si confermano le assenze già evidenziate in fase di candidatura, da Lorde a Taylor Swift, rimandata alla prossima edizione per questioni di eleggibilità.
Un premio che si lega alle vendite
I Grammy, si sa, sono un premio che mantiene un legame molto stretto con i dati di vendita e di streaming, un aspetto che emerge con particolare evidenza nelle categorie principali. In questo senso Bad Bunny rappresenta un caso emblematico, arrivando al premio sulla scorta di risultati eccezionali: nel 2025 è stato l’artista più ascoltato al mondo, con quasi 20 miliardi di stream, superando anche Taylor Swift, mentre Un Verano Sin Ti (2022) detiene tuttora il primato di album più streammato di sempre su Spotify, con oltre 15,7 miliardi di riproduzioni.
Ciononostante, i riconoscimenti assegnati a categorie che oggi non guidano più il mercato — come l’hip hop, dove non a caso ha dominato Kendrick Lamar — restituiscono un segnale positivo: da una parte una legittimazione, seppur tardiva, per i Cure, quasi un premio alla carriera più che al singolo disco; dall’altra una testimonianza di una vitalità incarnata dai Turnstile. Storico (il primo in 30 anni) ma più istituzionale, invece, il premio ai Nine Inch Nails per As Alive As You Need Me To Be, ormai pienamente integrati nel perimetro delle colonne sonore: non a caso l’ultimo album da cui è tratto il brano è, di fatto, una soundtrack.
