A poco più di anno di distanza dalla morte di Jóhann Jóhannsson, scomparso nel febbraio 2018 per overdose, Deutsche Grammophon ha annunciato l’uscita – prevista per venerdì 26 aprile – di un corposo box set con sette dischi del compositore islandese. Retrospective I, questo il titolo della raccolta che verrà seguita nel 2020 da un secondo volume, contiene l’album Virðulegu Forsetar (2004) e le colonne sonore Dís (2004), And In The Endless Pause There Came The Sound Of Bees (2009), The Miners’ Hymns (2011), Copenhagen Dreams (2012), Free the Mind (2012), compresa l’inedita soundtrack per White Black Boy. Il pre-order è già attivo sul sito dedicato.
Per accompagnare la pubblicazione della retrospettiva, la label tedesca ha inoltre condiviso in visione un documentario diretto da Blair Alexander e intitolato On The Trails Of Jóhann Jóhannsson, con interviste a Dustin O’Halloran, a parenti dell’artista e ad altri.
