Sono uscite in queste ore le nomine di tutte le categorie del premio musicale più ambito, i Grammy. La premiazione della 65th GRAMMY Awards si svolgerà il 5 febbraio 2023 dalla Crypto.com Arena di Los Angeles (ex Staples Center) e tra i candidati troviamo una buona quota di artisti indipendenti.
La loro è proverbialmente la sezione alternative, che quest’anno vede in gara nelle sue due categorie gli Arctic Monkeys, ma non con l’ultimo album bensì con la performance del brano There’d Better Be A Mirrorball, ma anche gli Arcade Fire con WE e i Big Thief con Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You, come anche di Björk con Fossora e gli Yeah Yeah Yeahs con il ritorno discografico Cool It Down. Colpaccio invece per le Wet Leg, presenti sia con l’omonimo che con la performance di Chaise Longue, ma anche nella categoria major, Best New Artist, nella quale troviamo anche Måneskin, Anitta, il duo (fusion) jazz, e Domi e JD Beck.
Scorrendo brevemente la lunga lista nelle principali categorie, il record of the year contiene tutti i big sellers dell’anno e così il song of the year: Beyoncé, Abba, Harry Styles, Lizzo, Kendrick Lamar, Adele (ma occhio, c’è anche Steve Lacy con Bad Habit). E così l’elenco degli album dell’anno, dove la spuntano pure i Coldplay con Music Of The Spheres e dove non poteva mancare il re dello streaming Bad Bunny con Un Verano Sin Ti.
Con le sue nove nomine trainate dal singolo piglia tutto Break My Soul, Beyoncé è inoltre l’artista che più volte è comparsa in una lista del premio. Il primato rimane in famiglia nel suo caso, dato che il precedente era in mano al marito. Subito a ruota troviamo Kendrick Lamar con 8, e nel suo caso il brano chiave (e relativo videoclip) è stato The Heart Part 5, ovvero il pezzo che ha introdotto (senza comparivi) il suo ultimo lavoro, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.
E i Red Hot Chili Peppers? Per loro la categoria è quella di genere, il rock, e qui la band si contende un premio nella categoria Best Rock Song con Ozzy Osbourne, che con il suo Patient Number 9 compare anche in quella degli album. Buono anche trovare Crawler degli IDLES e Elivs Costello & The Imposers, così come Spoon e Black Keys, tutti con i rispettivi album di quest’anno. A proposito, c’è anche Machine Gun Kelly… I Muse si beccano una sola nomination sotto Best Metal Performance con Kill or Be Killed e in quella lista ci sono anche i Ghost con Call me Little Sunshine.
Sulla dance-elettronica spunta il nome di Bonobo nelle categorie album e recording con Rosewood. Sul rap album va segnalato almeno Pusha T, con It’s Almost Dry (di Lamar abbiamo già detto).
Taylor Swift, che ha proposto senza successo la sua nuova registrazione di Red, ai Grammy gareggia unicamente con il singolo All Too Well, che è andato bene sia nella versione audio che in quella video. Dovesse anche solo vincere il Song of the year sarebbe un ottimo risultato per lei.
Ben distribuita anche la rosa dei nominati per la migliore soundrack, in cui non potevano mancare i due compositori Michael Giacchino (per The Batman) e il “solito” Hans Zimmer (l’ultimo Bond No Time to Die). Nuova meritata nomination per Jonny Greenwood, che con The Power of the Dog ha fatto senz’altro un ottimo lavoro e meriterebbe di vincere.
