È l’anno di Taylor Swift nel circuito mainstream mondiale e a confermarlo è il premio più ambito, i Grammy. L’edizione 2024 del noto riconoscimento vede la popstar in gara con ben sei nomination tra cui Song Of The Year (Anti-hero), Album Of The Year (Midnights) e Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (Karma con Ice Spice). Dovesse aggiudicarsi anche solo la prima delle tre statuette, quella relativa all’album dell’anno, salirebbe a quota quattro (con Fearless, 1989 e folklore) diventando la prima artista a ottenere questo risultato.
Anche SZA è in lizza per l’ambito premio con il suo SOS. Per l’r’n’b singer il totale nomination è anch’esso importante, nove in totale, che includono Song of the Year e Record of the Year per il singolo Kill Bill, oltre al Best Pop Duo/Group Performance per Ghost in the Machine, in combutta con Phoebe Bridgers.
Bridgers pure sta a nove nomination di cui sette per il suo lavoro all’interno del trio boygenius con Lucy Dacus e Julien Baker. Il folk rock trio è anch’esso nella lista dei nominati per l’Album of the Year con the record, così come Not Strong Enough è in gara per il Record of the Year.
Le boygenius sono presenti anche nella categoria Alternative Music Album of the Year che vede in lizza gli Arctic Monkeys di The Car, oltre a Lana Del rey con Did you know there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, Gorillaz con Cracker Island, e PJ Harvey con I Inside the Old Year Dying.
Non ultime, ai Grammy vanno forte anche Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish e Miley Cyrus con sei nomination ciascuna. La prima potrebbe ambire alla tripletta Album of the Year (GUTS), Song of the Year e Record of the Year (Vampire) e a sorpresa vincere pure nella categoria Best Rock Song con Ballad of a Homeschool Girl, strappando la vittoria ai nominati dello stesso premio Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters e Queens of the Stone Age.
Rimanendo sul rock: Metallica, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys hanno ognuno tre nomination. La band britannica, come sopracitato, è in corsa per il miglior album alternative, ma anche nelle categorie Best Alternative Music Performance (Body Paint) e Best Rock Performance (Sculptures of Anything Goes).
Anche Aphex Twin è in gara: l’EP Blackbox Life Recorder 21F è presente nella categoria Best Dance/Electronic Recording. E sempre a proposito di elettronica e producer Fred Again.. non poteva non essere presente tra i Best New Artist (tre in totale le nomination per lui).
