Bryan Ferry ha annunciato l’uscita del suo primo cofanetto antologico. S’intitola Selected Recordings 1973-2023 e copre 50 anni di attività dentro e fuori i Roxy Music. Ad anticiparlo, la condivisione di una cover inedita, She Belongs to Me di Bob Dylan.
Al suo interno, una selezione di brani provenienti dai sedici album solisti e due nuove registrazioni tra cui la sopracitata cover dylaniana che è inoltre stata condivisa in formato EP assieme ad altre quattro tracce (Retrospective: She Belongs to Me EP). È la prima di tre registrazioni digitali in questo senso.
In scaletta anche classici dei Roxy Music come Love is the Drug, Do The Strand e naturalmente Avalon, canzoni originariamente pubblicate nell’album The Jazz Age (una raccolta di reinterpretazioni in stile jazz anni ’20) e accreditate alla The Bryan Ferry Orchestra.
Il boxset, in arrivo il 25 ottobre via BMG, segue a qualche mese di distanza la notizia della vendita da parte del cantante di metà del proprio catalogo (compreso quello dei Roxy Music e i diritti d’immagine) a Iconic Artists.
L’ultimo album di Bryan Ferry Bitter-Sweet è uscito nel 2018. È seguito un EP di cover, Love Letters, e la ristampa, lo scorso anno, di Mamouna.
Selected Recordings 1973-2023 sarà disponibile in formato digitale e in una varietà di formati fisici, tra cui un’edizione di 5 CD completa di un libro rilegato di 100 pagine con note di copertina e fotografie. Sarà disponibile anche una versione in formato vinilico di 2 LP e una che prevede un singolo CD. Le prevendite sono già disponibili sul sito ufficiale del cantante.
