Kevin Shields ha aperto l’account Twitter dei My Bloody Valentine per denunciare la presenza di testi non corretti della band su Spotify. Il frontman, sospettoso sulla loro provenienza (racimolati sul web alla bell’e meglio?), non usa mezzi termini e parla di strofe completamente travisate che rappresentano un insulto per la formazione. Just noticed that Spotify has put fake lyrics up for our songs without our knowledge. These lyrics are actually completely incorrect and insulting. We’re not sure where they got them from, probably one of those bullshit lyrics sites on the internet

La band non è l’unica a essersi accorta della pratica del colosso dello streaming. In un altro post, sempre condiviso via social media ieri 21 gennaio, Simon Raymonde fa sapere di aver già informato 4AD e la stessa Spotify della pubblicazione scorretta di testi dei Cocteau Twins. La cosa triste, afferma il produttore discografico ed ex membro della formazione dream pop, è che nel loro caso c’è pure una pagina Twitter dedicata alle modalità con le quali pubblicare questo tipo di contenuti.
I already informed @4ad and @Spotify that these (& all CT lyrics on the internet) are nonsense but I’ve no idea where it’s all at. If we’d wanted our lyrics put up anywhere we wouldve done it 30 odd years ago. There’s even a twitter page dedicated to “posting CT lyrics” – sad.

Negli scorsi mesi Spotify è finito (ed è tuttora) nell’occhio del ciclone per la decisione del suo CEO Daniel Ek di investire in tecnologia bellica, scelta che ha portato a un’inevitabile campagna di boicottaggio (#BoycottSpotify) di cui si sono fatti protagonisti numerosi artisti, specie della comunità elettronica.
