A stretto giro dalla pubblicazione di Cat Power sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert, Cat Power annuncia un tour che la porterà in giro per gli Stati Uniti e l’Europa.
L’album in cui l’artista ha eseguito per intero il set che Bob Dylan suonò nell’omonima location il 26 e il 27 maggio del 1966, sarà dunque oggetto di una tournée. Si parte dal New Jersey, il 12 febbraio, con a seguire show nei principali Stati. Ad aprile Cat Power approderà dunque in Europa e nel Regno Unito per una serie limitata di live tra Stoccolma, Berlino, Francoforte, Nantes, Parigi e Londra. L’Italia è al momento esclusa.
L’originale The “Royal Albert Hall” Concert in verità è stato registrato alla Free Trade Hall di Manchester. Un bootleg circolato per anni prima di uscire ufficialmente come live (nel 1998 e in seguito nelle Bootleg Series) aveva erroneamente attribuito la location del concerto battezzando di fatto la svolta elettrica nella famosa sala da concerti londinese. I set sono comunque identici, una prima parte acustica e una seconda elettrica, con Dylan a beccarsi gli insulti (“giuda!” il più famoso). All’epoca, ad accompagnare il folksinger c’erano gli Hawks, ovvero la Band come si faceva chiamare allora.
Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert è uscito il 10 novembre 2023 via Domino. Ad anticiparlo le riletture di She Belongs To Me, Ballad Of a Thin Man, Like a Rolling Stone e Mr. Tambourine Man. Su SA una presentazione del progetto.
