Il 14 novembre 2025 usciranno le edizioni celebrative per il quarantesimo anniversario di Songs From The Big Chair, il secondo album dei Tears for Fears, pubblicato originariamente il 25 febbraio 1985.
Considerato uno dei dischi più rappresentativi del pop-rock degli anni Ottanta, il lavoro portò la band inglese ai vertici delle classifiche internazionali, trainato da singoli come Shout, Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Head Over Heels, Mothers Talk e I Believe.
Il nuovo progetto discografico comprende diverse versioni già disponibili per il pre-order: un cofanetto triplo CD con album originale, b-side, versioni editate e remix; ristampe in vinile, tra cui un doppio LP rosso trasparente con artwork alternativo e brani inediti su questo formato, un vinile azzurro trasparente e un picture disc.
Accolto all’epoca come punto di svolta per la carriera del duo formato da Roland Orzabal e Curt Smith, Songs From The Big Chair consolidò il ruolo dei Tears for Fears nella scena new wave, conquistando la vetta della Billboard Top 200 e ottenendo dischi di platino in più paesi. Negli anni successivi, diversi artisti hanno reinterpretato Everybody Wants To Rule The World, brano che compare anche in numerose colonne sonore cinematografiche, da The Hunger Games: Catching Fire a Guardiani della Galassia.
I Tears for Fears, nati a Bath nel 1981, hanno venduto oltre 30 milioni di dischi a livello mondiale. Dopo il successo dei primi due album, hanno continuato a pubblicare nuova musica fino ai recenti The Tipping Point (2022) e al live album Songs for a Nervous Planet (2024), entrami recensiti su SA da Alessandro Liccardo.
