Neil Young ha eseguito una nuova canzone durante il concerto di beneficenza Light Up the Blues al Greek Theater di Los Angeles nel fine settimana, e nel testo ha preso di mira Elon Musk e Tesla. Intitolato presumibilmente Let’s Roll Again, il brano fa anche riferimento satirico alle politiche economiche “America First” di Donald Trump.
“Come on Ford, come on GM/ Come on Chrysler, let’s roll again”, recita l’incipit, mentre Young canta: “Build something special, that people need/ Build us a safe way for us to live/ Build us something that won’t kill our kids/ Build us something that runs real clean/ Come on America, let’s get in the race/ China’s way ahead, they’re making clean cars”.
Dopo un assolo di armonica a bocca, arriva il verso: “If you’re a fascist, get a Tesla/ It’s electric, it doesn’t matter”. Il brano si conclude con l’avvertimento di Young: “If you’re a democrat, taste your freedom/ Get whatever you want, taste your freedom”.
Young si sta preparando per un’estate ricca di tour, con un posto da headliner a Glastonbury 2025 e un tour europeo e nordamericano. Il cantautore è anche il soggetto di un nuovo album tributo, Heart Of Gold: The Songs Of Neil Young, Vol. 1, uscito venerdì 25 aprile, con i contributi, tra gli altri, di Fiona Apple e Sharon Van Etten.
