Nella notte sono stati assegnati gli MTV Europe Music Awards 2020 con la conduzione affidata alle Little Mix in formazione a tre (Jesy Nelson è in quarantena causa COVID-19). Il tutto si è svolto, come è consuetudine di questi tempi, da remoto e lo show ha visto dunque le esibizioni di Sam Smith, Maluma, Doja Cat, YUNGBLUD, Zara Larsson, Alicia Keys, Karol G, DaBaby, Jack Harlow, Tate McRae e David Guetta.
Tra i vincitori assoluti dell’edizione c’è la band coreana dei BTS (Bangtan Boys), incoronata come miglior gruppo e anche per la miglior canzone (Dynamite); vincono anche Lady Gaga come miglior artista e i Coldplay come Best Rock.
Per quanto riguarda l’Italia è stato Diodato a conquistare il Best Italian Act; quest’ultimo ha “cantato” il suo ringraziamento alla manifestazione attraverso un video diffuso sui suoi canali social e che potete guardare di seguito.
