Con un annuncio sulla pagina facebook ufficiale, The Doors hanno comunicato ieri, 20 maggio, la morte di Ray Manzarek.
"Ray Manzarek, keyboardist and founding member of The Doors, passed away today at 12:31PM PT at the RoMed Clinic in Rosenheim, Germany after a lengthy battle with bile duct cancer. He was 74. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his wife Dorothy Manzarek, and his brothers Rick and James Manczarek".
Tastierista e fondatore del gruppo, Manzarek si è spento all'età di 74 anni dopo una lunga battaglia contro il cancro. Amava definirsi l'architetto della formazione fondata nel 1965 a Venice Beach, grazie a un incontro casuale con Jim Morrison.
