Dal quel che apprendiamo dai messaggi di cordoglio di amici e colleghi: Anton Fier è morto all’età di 66 anni. Membro delle primissime line up di Loung Lizards e Feelies, instancabile musicista del giro (no) newyorchese della fine degli anni ’70, Fier ha fondato i Golden Palominos nel 1983, un super gruppo frulla tutto di jazz, funk, avant, rock che vantava la presenza di, tra gli altri, Arto Lindsay, Fred Frith, David Moss, John Zorn, Mark Miller, Michael Beinhorn, Bill Laswell.
Tra pause e ripartenze, il collettivo è stato attivo fino al 2019. L’album più noto rimane Visions of Excess, che conta prestigiosi contributi vocali di, tra gli altri, Michael Stipe e John Lydon.
Tra gli altri artisti e band con le quali Anton Fier, batterista e compositore, ha collaborato, ci sono Bob Mould (nei primi due album) e gli Swans all’altezza di White Light From The Mouth Of Infinity, mentre per quanto riguarda i singoli musicisti la lista si fa parecchio lunga e comprende Mick Jagger come Yoko Ono e i Los Lobos.
