Il prossimo 2 giugno verrà pubblicato I’ll Take You There – An All-Star Concert Celebration (Blackbird Presents Records), l’album/DVD celebrativo della serata – datata 2014 – che Mavis Staples ha tenuto per festeggiare – assieme ad un nutrito cast di musicisti internazionali – il suo 75° compleanno. Di seguito la tracklist del disco e un estratto della performance che vede sul palco Win Butler e Régine Chassagne degli Arcade Fire, Jeff Tweedy degli Wilco assieme al figlio Spencer, oltre a Gregg Allman, Michael McDonald, Bonnie Raitt e Emmylou Harris.
La Staples ha recentemente collaborato con gli Arcade Fire nel loro ultimo singolo, I Give You Power e figura anche tra i crediti dell’ultimo album dei Gorillaz, Humanz. Il suo ultimo album Livin’ on a High Note, è uscito lo scorso anno ed è stato recensito da Marco Boscolo.
