Ennesima manifestazione dello state of the art del sottobosco noise americano. Untitled, compilation magnificamente confezionata a mano in 3 cd serigrafati racchiusi in una scatola di cartone con prezioso artwork, sonda le propaggini di un suono che se a volte si fa stanca ripetizione di se stesso, il più delle volte lascia esterrefatti per fascino e efferatezza. Della partita tutto il meglio (o il peggio, dipende dall’orecchio) delle scena noise, drone e experimental americana. Nomi noti e non uniti tutti da un approccio che si fa sempre più sotterraneo, oscuro, difficile da rintracciare: Burning Star Core, mister Thurston “prezzemolino” Moore, Cherry Point, Dead Machines e molti, molti altri.

Tre ore e mezza di deliranti assalti noise che assumono di volta in volta i connotati di furibonda melassa tribaleggiante (gli Sword Heaven già sulla compila Pisspounder) o appiccicosa di resti umanoidi (Travis Ryan, Tonight Golden Curls) oltre che del classico attacco iconoclasta (i 28 secondi di puro dolore di Savage Groping… di Robert Inhuman e quelli dell’accoppiata Gerritt & Wiese). A volte però, quando si abbassa la manopola del rumore escono fuori chicche non indifferenti che denotano quasi una parvenza di umanità: Burning Star Core, ad esempio, che si presenta con un lungo mantra dal clangore industriale ma dal cuore di carne e sangue (Let’s Name Her Snowy Cuz It’s Snowy Outside). Oppure le liquide visioni droning di Sick Ill Cell, l’assolo (sì, assolo) comprensibile di Darsombra, il trip-hop blasfemo e meccanico di Bet Hell e Josh Lay.

Come dire, c’è vita oltre il rumore? A parte qualche ovvia monnezza – diciamo un 20% del totale – la compila è buona, i gruppi ovviamente sconosciuti e la sensazione finale è sempre quella di osservare, anzi ascoltare, un ready-made duchampiano. Prendere o lasciare. Noi nel nostro piccolo prendiamo eccome.
